Healthcare Professionals
Alzheimer’s disease is a progressive neurodegenerative
disease. The hallmark of the disease is a progressive loss of
memory function as well as other cognitive abilities, although
people with the disease may also experience emotional disturbances
such as depression or anxiety. Many people with Alzheimer’s
disease eventually become dependent on others for help in performing
even the most basic activities required for daily living such
as bathing, getting around inside the home, and eating.
While current medications can alleviate some of the symptoms
of the disease, there is no cure for the disease. The Roskamp
Institute is dedicated to finding answers to the questions most
relevant to caregivers and Alzheimer’s sufferers: What causes
Alzheimer’s disease? How can we treat it? How can we possibly
cure this debilitating disease? As we search for the cure to this
disease, we are also committed to providing the best care in terms
of diagnosis, treatment and support for patients and their caregivers.
We cannot do it alone; we must work together, in partnership
with other healthcare professionals. We need your help to accomplish
our goals. We invite you to work with us in a number of ways so
that we may bring an end to this devastating illness. Please call
us at 941-256-8018 or 813-979-2008 to learn more about how you
can help.
